Times are changing
and businesses must change too. With the development of the internet and
the desire for a higher quality of life, the management-employee relationship
needs a new direction for the future. The legacy management styles of
the recent and distant past were hierarchical, directed from above, confined
to the dictates of a single individual with a single vision that had
little chance to rapidly adapt to changing conditions in the market place.
The experience of members of the EASI Academy in the area of complex adaptive systems provides the foundation
for its management structure. The company is self organizing, with no
specific leader who dictates or imposes their vision on others or the corporation.
In place of the traditional hierarchical view is a parallel distributed
structure
that
allows teams to form to address business opportunities as they arise
without the need for coordination through multiple layers of bureaucracy.
Each
principal within the company can be the lead on any particular business
opportunity. Typically,
teams self organize based on the skills needed to complete a project. A
business opportunity may enter the company from any direction and through
any individual.
The initiating individual may seek to obtain the assistance of others
whose expertise they deem is valuable for the opportunity. Every
individual has the option to accept or decline to participate without the
need to "explain" themselves. No one will tell you what to
do, but may ask you if you are in a position to help out. Since everyone
within the company
has a stake in the success of every opportunity, the factors of self-interest,
camaraderie, and individual responsibility are self motivating forces
that keep things on tract without anyone watching or directing.
EASI Academy is a company of highly motivated, rugged individualists
who know how to collaborate and cooperate to achieve a common goal. Because
the company functions like a family, everyone cares about the collective
success of the business and therefore can act responsibly without having
to be told what to do.
